Mavisoft Business Plan
Mavisoft was submitted to the PortXL Antwerp maritime accelerator in 2019 and quickly rose to the top of the pile, eventually graduating from the program and entering negotiations with the sponsor. Mavisoft has since grown to become a recognized player in the maritime sector for its AI capabilities around asset management.
About Mavisoft
Mavisoft is an Artificial Intelligence (AI) research company based in Rotterdam. As the name would suggest, Mavisoft develops machine vision software solutions, specifically damage detection and surveying tools. Founded in 2018, Mavisoft’s team has always been developer-heavy, allowing the company to rapidly build and refine cutting-edge technologies.
The mission is to build the most powerful and user-friendly automated industrial surveying tool which can be tailored to the unique needs of clients and encourage circularity by enhancing the asset lifecycle through automated preventive maintenance software. Mavisoft’s technology detects damage and defects in concrete and metal. The first commercialization of this technology was done through our first product called Infrascan, an automated industrial surveying tool.
Mavisoft has since partnered with major drone operators, including Haviq, AquaSmartXL, and a Dutch Drone company, to deliver this solution to clients such as the Port of Antwerp and the Port of Rotterdam. Mavisoft is also on the advisory board of the University of Antwerp for corrosion detection, as well as other research institutes.
Target Market
Mavisoft’s customers are virtually anyone who are responsible for their own infrastructure. From companies in the maritime sector all the way to aviation services, Mavisoft’s Automated Surveying Solution allows almost any asset to be surveyed with pinpoint precision regarding damage localization, categorization, and the digital twin itself. It is in everyone’s interest to use Mavisoft’s solution, as it is ensuring life extension which comes along with massive capex savings.

Market Approach
-
Technology: Mavisoft’s technology is built for surveyors, by surveyors. By building alongside clients and partners, the company has all essential features to satisfy market needs. This technology has been validated through partners of the Mainport Innovation Fund such as the Port of Amsterdam, Schiphol, NS, VolkerWessels, and many more.
-
Strategy: Mavisoft is the first mover to service and offer these technologies to most key players in the market. It develops intimate, collaborative relationships with giants such as the Port of Antwerp, NL AI Coalitie, Schiphol, BASF, ArcelorMittal, Engie, and many more.
-
Tactical: Mavisoft has an intricate network of companies that allows to keep a fine focus on AI research while having access to all relevant complementary data that are collected by other means. This forms strong relationships that keep Mavisoft at the front line of innovation.
Most Prominent Markets
- Infrascan
Industrial Asset Surveying is not only an expensive operation but has multiple safety risks. Infrascan can completely survey any industrial assets with just drones. On average, the solution is 38% cheaper than traditional surveying methods and takes one-fifth of the time. - Scantainr
Around EUR7.5B are used per year in container maintenance and repair; a lot of these are based on false claims given to terminals. Scantainr provides the tools to not only optimize these processes but also prevent terminals from loss absorption through proof of documentation which can be used as rebuttals for claims.

The Problem
The core problem persists in asset surveying. Over 80% of an industrial surveyor’s time is spent on repetitive tasks which include:
- Human error that leads to less accurate and missed clarifications of damages. These inaccurate classifications further result in ineffective action plans and inefficient utilization of resources as unnecessary repairs are made to irrelevant damages
- Lengthy inspections where costs are often high.
Additional problems that are yet to be resolved in the industrial surveying domain involve inefficient container throughput, high safety risks and increased traffic at the terminals.
The Solution
The purpose of using AI is to streamline the repair and maintenance process by giving further insight into the current and predicted condition of the assets. Mavisoft is the only company that can provide a complete end-to-end surveying solution that provides results far greater than that of a human.
Our clients simply need to provide us with images, which we then process into a digital twin which accurately reflects the structural condition of the asset. These results are then forwarded to ArcGIS, where most clients manage their assets and make decisions. From a technical standpoint, the most unique selling point for Mavisoft is our ability to aggregate damage information found in 2d images, into a 3D environment i.e., the digital twin, which allows the asset owner to handle their digital assets as single variables, as opposed to having large PDF reports which consist of numerous variables that are hard to digest.

Infrascan
Product Service / Feature | What does it bring to our clients |
A digital twin of the asset with corresponding damage information including damage type, size, severity, and location | The digital twin and all its components are available in multiple formats which can be used in GIS and several other applications, and stored as detailed, historical data for asset trend analysis, and predictive analytics. |
Heatmap analysis of damages | The heat map provides surveyors with an ideal overview of the asset and where the damages are most prominent (as well as their severities) through clear visualization. |
High-quality point cloud; available in multiple formats (including Potree) | The point cloud is used to develop the digital twin and is also used to detect deformities in the asset. If original drawings of the asset are available, comparisons can be made to determine shifting, tilting, or sinking of the asset. |
Full PDF report of each asset, exportable in multiple templates | The surveyor can decide precisely which damages are included, based on size, severity, type of damage, and so on. Over time, optimizations will be made specific to clients to optimize the workflow going from the inspection to price estimation of the damages selected based on predefined variables. |
Validation tool for surveyors | The took can be used to ‘double check’ surveys and add any necessary comments. Any information added by the surveyor will be present in all data exports |
Data Storage | Useful for future trend analysis in order to keep track of all surveys; this data can be accessed at any time by any personnel who have the credentials to Mavisoft’s portal |

Sales and Marketing Strategy
Challenge:
Maintaining confidentiality limits content sharing. Scantainr is a highly technical, plug-and-play solution which is difficult for the target industrial players to comprehend. Existing product demos are not explanatory enough for the target market as conditional reports are still unrevealed due to confidentiality.
Our Solution:
- Creating a promotional video of Scantainr by running the solution in the terminals and accessing footage for real-live cases.
- Working with clients and partners to have a sharable conditional report
- Pricing Strategy: Pricing models differ based on the size of the terminals for Scantainr. Each pricing model has three categories- Pay as You Go (PAYG), Professional and Repair Depot. These categories differ in terms of the services Mavisoft can provide with the given price (See Appendix 2) Pricing for Infrascan is based on projects and yearly contracts.
- Promotion Plan: Mavisoft aims to create video demonstrations of the Scantainr solution, making it easier for clients to conceptualize. Through HubSpot, Mavisoft plans to organize and manage marketing campaigns to enhance its product recognition.
Financial Plan
Mavisoft aims to raise a pre-seed round of 1.5million EUR, with a pre-money valuation of around 10 million EUR. The funding will be sent on:
- Team building: Hiring key people in the fields of AI development and human resource
- Product Development: Covering R&D expenses for further AI development
- Marketing and Sales: Utilizing the residual funding amount in organizing marketing campaigns, attending offline conferences & networking events, and further partnerships.
